Mrs. Steven asked:

I got adjusted when i twisted my neck and I think my recovery was twice as long as when I just let the muscle relax on its own. I am just curious.

It all depends on how knowledgeable the doctor is. I heard some cases where it causes more damage than repair. But I also heard many people who trust them 100%

I think the chiropractor can solve so many of your body’s problems. I just posted something on here about dizzy spells- I had them really bad for a while and found out that they were being caused by a pinched nerve (which the chiropractor was able to fix!) I would say yoga and chiropractic treatment are the best combo!

I personally went to Chiropractors for years. Some are good, some are lousy. Just like medical doctors. It also depends on the treatment given.

make sure you go to someone with good references, on recommendation. then see how it works for you. i’ve had quite positive experiences both long and short term, but only went to recommended ones.

With regard to adjustments, I’ve encountered two types of chiropractors: those who work from force (usually great big guys), and those who work from finesse. I think the “force” chiros are more likely to leave you feeling sore, although statistically they are unlikely to cause you any harm. I would therefore, try to go with a smaller doctor.

They may not have been the same problem, or perhaps the “condition” underlying your propensity for stiff neck is getting worse.

Also, probably not a good idea to equate pain relief with recovery if the sore muscle is a symptom of a greater problem…after all, a symptom is rarely the first thing to show up. Just ask any heart or cancer patient.

Your question suggests a need to talk to the practioner first hand. Maybe he or she missed something? Dd they take X ray films? Do you have arthritis etc?

Got something to say?
